December Empties

Before the last week of December, I wasn't expecting to have enough empties to justify a blog post, but I managed to use up a couple of products the last few days of the month. I ended up with a Sephora bag full of empty containers! Here's a look at what I used up in December.

The Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio in Blue Eyes isn't really an empty, but it got old and dried out. This is not the fault of the product. I had this a long time, and used most of it. When I tried to use it last, it was too hard and dry to get the pencil to apply. I used up the black and brown ones in the trio quickly, but I don't use blue eyeliner often. These retractable eyeliners are nice and convenient because they do not need to be sharpened and are pigmented and easy to apply. I like to take retractable eyeliner with me when I travel, so I can leave the sharpener at home.

To remove my eye makeup, I use coconut oil, but then I use the Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes to remove any residue and the rest my makeup. Getting a box of these from Costco or Sam's Club is a cost effective way to purchase these. I used up the small package shown and a twenty-five count. These are quick and easy to use. I do not use these as my only method of cleansing. I wash my face after I remove my makeup.

Speaking of Neutrogena, I also finished the Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover. Because this product has a pump, I used this to wash my face in the shower. I did not use it as a makeup remover, so I cannot say how well it removes makeup. This was nice as a cleanser. It felt nice on my face and didn't make my skin feel dry. I like the use of mostly natural ingredients, and the pump is perfect for using in the shower. I would purchase this again.

At the end of the month, I used up the Mineral Fusion Anti-dandruff Shampoo. This is a fantastic shampoo if you have an oily, itchy scalp. The salicylic acid is what makes this so effective for an irritated scalp. Neutrogena T-Sal has salicylic acid as well and is a little easier to find, but I prefer the Mineral Fusion. This shampoo is paraben free, sulfate free, and has minerals and other natural ingredients. I really love this shampoo! It cleans and removes buildup from your scalp without drying out your hair, and it is gentle on color treated hair. It can be found at natural grocery stores or at drugstore.com.

Since I paint my nails frequently, I go through a lot of nail polish remover. I stocked up on the CVS Regular Polish Remover when they had it on sale. It gets the job done, and I haven't had any issues with it or it's effectiveness. Nail polish remover is a product that I don't think about; I just get whatever is on sale. I have heard great things about the Zoya nail polish remover, and I may try that when I need more.

My last full-size product that was finished is the Origins A Perfect World SPF 35 UV Face Protector with White Tea. I started using this in the summer as a daytime moisturizer, but it made my skin too oily for me to use during the hot summer months. This works much better for me during the colder months when my skin needs the extra hydration. I really like this product, and may purchase it again to use during the cooler weather.

The first sample that I finished is the StriVectin-SD Power Serum for Wrinkles. This is a serum that is meant to be applied before your moisturizer in the morning and evening. It claims to reduce wrinkles and boost skin luminosity in two to eight weeks. I just used this in the morning before my moisturizer with SPF. This was just a 1 ml/0.03 fl oz sample, so I was not able to use this long enough to see results. It did have a nice consistency and applied smoothly due to silicone in the ingredients. Sometimes, I find products that have a high silicone content to feel to heavy on my skin, but this was not the case with this product. What I really liked about the Power Serum is that my skin felt softer and smoother after I removed my makeup and washed my face at night. I could tell that it was doing something to improve my skin.

The last sample I used was the Gurelain Orchidee Imperiale Exceptional Complete Care - The Cream. I used this as a night cream and really enjoyed it. The orchid extract is what makes this cream different from other creams, but that may be the only difference. I found it to be very moisturizing and felt very nice on the skin. It also felt very luxurious to apply, which is important with a brand like Guerlain, but I didn't see or notice anything extraordinary when I used it.

I still cannot believe I used up all of these products! What have you been using up lately?

  1. The purple Zoya polish remover is fab if you wear glitter polish. If not, just use your usual remover. But even if you use a glitter as an accent nail, that polish is the best thing for taking off that cumbersome glitter. On regular polish, it also cleans your nails. Gets behind your nails, and gets it nice and clean and white. I also use the striVectin Alpha Hydroxy Peels daily, They are awesome!!! Again, I hope you got your show, with your gorgeous red dress. You looked stunning :)

    1. Ooooo...now that you have explained why it's so good, I will definitely be purchasing the Zoya remover! I've only tried a couple of striVectin samples, but I have liked both of them. Thanks for the recommendation. I may give it a try!

    1. Thank you, Jenna! Checks and Balances from Origins is a really nice face wash, and the GinZing moisturizer is great. There's also a GinZing eye cream that's supposed to be really good for brightening that's on my list of products that I want to try. If you get it, let me know what you think! Thank you so much for stopping by!
