Chanel Spring Lip Combo -- La Diva with Sonic Pink liner

Pink lips are always such a trend for spring, especially now that radiant orchid was deemed Color of the Year by Pantone. I always like seeing the collections that Chanel launches. I don't always make a purchase, but they are small, well thought out, and a good gauge of what other brands are doing. There's something about Chanel that makes drugstore brands follow suit with their color choices.

I will admit that I'm not completely a Chanel makeup gal. I really love the color choices for lips and nails, so I prefer to just stay in that territory when deciding what to buy. For the rest of their products, I have a cream eyeshadow, a single eyeshadow, and an eyeshadow quad.

From the choices in the spring collection, I picked the Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in La Diva and decided to pair it with the Sonic Pink lipliner (in the permanent collection). Both of these are bright,"happy" pinks. The liner pairs so nicely with the lipstick, and I really cannot notice that I have on both because they are a dead match.

Sonic Pink

The pencil applies smoothly and is nice and creamy. Even though La Diva is a Rouge Allure Velvet (matte finish), it applies easily and isn't patchy. I do recommend exfoliating your lips before you use this. Matte lipsticks tend to show everything, so exfoliating will take care of that. This lipstick is very long wearing and lasts for most of the day before I need to touch up. La Diva applies comfortably, but it starts to feel drying as it wears. If you are prone to dry lips, then I definitely recommend using a lip balm first.

Perfect match!

  9. This is gorgeous. It doesn't look too overpowering either, and I was afraid of that when I saw the shade. I'll have to try out a Chanel product someday.
