Review & Swatches! BH Cosmetics 10 piece Nail Lacquer - Flirty Collection

As you may remember from a few previous posts, a sweet friend of mine sent me a package of goodies from BH Cosmetics. I have slowly but surely been working on reviewing everything I got in that package, and the 10 piece Nail Lacquer Flirty Collection will finish the bunch!

The BH Cosmetics 10 piece Nail Lacquer Flirty Collection can be purchased from the BH Cosmetics website, and is currently on sale for $8.95. When these arrived, each bottle was wrapped in one layer of plastic, and all of them were in a plastic bag. While none of these were terribly damaged, some glass did chip off of one of the bottles. I am still able to use everything, but I thought I would make you aware of how they are shipped.

2 coats in artificial light

On to these beautiful colors!
1. Fizz (Opaque Hot Peach)
2. Calm (Opaque Light Aqua)
3.Sugar (Opaque Pastel Pink)
4. Dolly (Opaque Hot Rose)
5. Celeb (Opaque Light Fuscia)
6. Blossom (Opaque Pastel Violet)
7. Sass (Opaque Medium Violet)
8. Sonic (Metallic Royal Purple)
9. Night (Opaque Ink Blue)
10. Wine (Opaque Deep Burgundy)

Direct sunlight

I have worn every color with the exception of Dolly and Wine. These are pretty good quality! All of these colors are opaque in two coats. Some of the very light colors can be a little streaky at first, but they even out with the second coat and as they dry. They are long lasting and do not chip easily. I can get a good five days out of these polishes, and that's pretty good for my nails!

My favorites are Celeb, Sass, and Fizz -- the brights! There's a nice mix of colors even though there are three pink and three purple shades. Celeb and Dolly look very similar in the photos above, but they are different. Dolly is more of a true pink, and Celeb has a cooler undertone with a bit of purple.

The Flirty Collection would be great for building a nail polish collection or would be nice for those of you that enjoy doing nail art. Overall, I'm really enjoying this nice addition to my collection!

$20 Makeup Challenge

I was tagged by the adorable Chelsea from Tiger Love Beauty to do the $20 Makeup Challenge. Check out her blog! She has an awesome series that she just started called "Pinspiration" in which she recreates makeup looks found on Pinterest. Best idea ever!

This tag is great because it shows that you don't need to spend a lot on products to have a full face of makeup. Anyone that has been by this blog often enough knows how much I love my high end products, but I don't discriminate when it comes to makeup. No ma'am! I am an equal opportunity beauty product purchasing fiend! Because I have an obscene amount of makeup in my collection, I didn't have to go out and purchase anything at all. Here's what I used!

There's no particular rhyme or reason to this arrangement...

Wet n Wild Coverall Pressed Powder - Light | $3
This powder provides pretty good coverage for a foundation and for concealer.
I like how it works as a foundation rather than a setting powder.
It does a pretty good job doubling as a concealer when used with a concealer brush.

e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder - St. Lucia | $3
Yay for two for one products!
I like this little duo, but it doesn't get a lot of love in my collection.
The bronzing color is very blendable and easy to use.
The blush is a nice peachy pink that goes with everything.

Wet n Wild palette - Comfort Zone | $5 (on sale for $3!)
I love this palette, and it has been in my favorites.
I used all of the colors on the left side as they describe.
Really creative, right?

Revlon Grow Luscious mascara - Blackest Black | $5 ($4 with coupon!)
This was my first time using it.
The brush is huge, but I didn't have any problems with it.
I like it so far! Let me know if you want a review of this or of anything else listed!

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Lip Color - Rose To The Occasion | $3 ($2 with coupon!)
I'm not really a fan of these long wearing liquid lipsticks.
It made my lips feel really dry after a while.
If it hadn't had a coupon on the tube, I probably wouldn't have purchased it.
Oh well! It came in handy for this post, and maybe I'll need it for a long day eventually!\
I do really like the color.

A low key look for a low key day.
If you were to go out and buy all of these products at full price, this look would total $19. I found one item on sale and used coupons for two others, so I only paid $15 for everything. Sweet deal!

I challenge all of you to take on the $20 Makeup Challenge! Please let me know if you have a favorite ridiculously inexpensive beauty product! I love hearing from you!

Review! Valentia Even Glow Serum - Vitamin C 20%

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

If you enjoy watching dermatologists giving skincare advice on YouTube as much as I do, then you already know that vitamin C is incredibly important for maintaining beautiful looking skin. Today, I am pleased to review the Valentia Even Glow Serum Vitamin C 20%. This serum can be purchased on Amazon for $35.

Claims:
The company claims that this serum:

  • evens skin tone
  • increases glow and radiance
  • absorbs rapidly
  • boosts collagen production
  • reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

Packaging:
Before I get into whether this serum does what is claims, let's talk packaging.

  • The Even Glow Serum comes in a 1.18 fl oz/35 ml amber glass bottle with a dropper. It is very important for any vitamin C serum to be packaged in amber glass because vitamin C is very unstable and photosensitive. Light will actually damage the product.
  • You get a little more product than the standard 1 fl oz/30 ml.
  • The product was shipped to me in a secure envelope. Nothing was damaged, but the box was a little crumpled. I'm not keeping the box after I post this review, so it's all good!

My serum
Application:

  • The directions say that the product can separate, so make sure to shake it a little before you apply. I haven't noticed the product separating, though.
  • Apply after you wash your face, before your moisturizer. Day or night.
  • A little goes a long way, and you only need a couple of drops for your entire face.
  • This has a thin consistency (because it's a serum) with an orange color and a citrus smell.
  • Dries very quickly.

Results:
I'll start by saying that I did see quick results with this serum. After only a couple of days, my complexion looked bright. My face looked as if I had gotten extra sleep, but I did not. Let's see how it stood up to the claims!

  • Evens skin tone - Yes! The first thing I noticed was that my skin looked more even. Some of my post-acne marks are starting to fade.
  • Increases glow & radiance - Yes! I feel as if this is already covered under "evens skin tone," but my face looked brighter, like I had a good night's rest.
  • Absorbs rapidly - It seems to do so. It dries very quickly, so you don't have to wait long before you can apply moisturizer.
  • Boosts collagen production - According to dermatologists, vitamin C does help collagen production, which prevents sagging.
  • Reduces wrinkles and fine lines - My skin feels very hydrated and plump when I use this serum, but I cannot tell how much it's reducing wrinkles.

Final Thoughts:
I really like Valentia Even Glow Serum! I use it both day and night. In the morning, I apply it under my moisturizer with an SPF. At night, I like to use this by itself because my skin is starting to get a bit oily due to the warmer weather. This serum is hydrating on its own for people with oily skin, but if you have dry skin you will need to use a moisturizer. I definitely recommend that you consider giving the Valentia Even Glow Serum a try if you have hyperpigmentation. I noticed a difference in this reducing dark spots for me.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried a vitamin C serum? Did you notice any difference in your skin?

I love hearing from you!

Review and Swatches! Estee Lauder Gelee Powder EyeShadow in Cyber Gold

As I have probably stated in almost every post recently, bold lips have been my thing. Sometimes, I still want to wear a bit of color on my eyes at the same time, and gold eyeshadow makes a lovely pairing with red lips. The Estee Lauder Pure Color Gelee Powder EyeShadow in Cyber Gold is one of my favorite gold eyeshadows right now.

I have been very curious about the gelee powder eyeshadows from Estee Lauder, and because summer is approaching, I thought gold would be a good choice. I can understand why this is called  "gelee powder" because it does have the look of a cream eyeshadow. When I first tried this, I wasn't very impressed. Applied dry, Cyber Gold, while very beautiful and well pigmented, has a lot of fallout. When applied using a wet brush, this eyeshadow is absolutely stunning! The color becomes even more vibrant and foiled without any fallout at all! I haven't had any creasing with Cyber Gold, but I always wear an eyeshadow primer. A flat, synthetic eyeshadow brush that is slightly damp works best for application.

Top dry, bottom wet

Here's what's on my face!

Face:
Rimmel BB Cream - Light mixed with Estee Lauder Double Wear - Shell
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish - Stereo Rose (discontinued, but I did find it on Amazon for quite a lot)
Eyes:
Estee Lauder Gelee Powder EyeShadow in Cyber Gold - on lid
MAC Henna eyeshadow (discontinued) - in crease
MAC Mylar eyeshadow - under brows
Lips:

Have you tried any of these eyeshadows? What are your thoughts?

I love hearing from you!

Beauty Empties!

It has been way too long since I did an empties post! My empties bag was overflowing with empty containers. I mean, I had so much stuff that getting a picture of everything all was a bit hard to do. Empties are one of my favorite kinds of posts to read, so I will make sure to do them more frequently.

Skincare
Neutrogena make-up remover cleansing towelettes: I had several of these in my bag of empties. I get a box of these at Costco and have been using them for a couple of years. I use them to take off my makeup before washing my face. I will continue to purchase these.

Sibu sea buckthorn seed oil: I really like this oil. It has made a couple of appearances in my monthly favorites. A little goes a long way, and it is very gentle, healing oil. I already have another one of these.

Aura Cacia Rosehip Oil with Vitamin E: This is another oil that has made it to my monthly favorites before. It was a very gentle oil that was great to use this winter. I will repurchase this.

L'Occitane Immortelle Precious Protection SPF 20: This was a great day cream during the winter. I have a full review of this HERE. I was sad when this came to an end, and I will purchase this again when winter rolls back around.

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream: This is a very thick cream that was so nice to use as a night cream when it was so extremely cold. I really liked it, and I would use this again.

Algenist Overnight Restorative Cream: I really loved this deluxe sample of this night cream. It was amazing! I could tell a difference in my skin when I was using this. I have some skincare that I'm testing out right now, but I will definitely purchase the full size of this!

Bath & Body
Bath & Body Works Paris Amour Shower Gel: I really like using shower gels from Bath & Body Works because I can use scents that I wouldn't normally wear with a body spray. This is an nice scent, and I would probably repurchase this during one of their sales.

Avon Naturals Vanilla Moisturizing Shower Gel: This was a nice shower gel. I really like the price point of these, and they go on sale a lot. I had a bunch of these, so I'm going to take a break. They are good, though.

Soap & Glory Look Better Naked Body Butter: I must admit that I'm not really a body lotion type of person. Unless I feel really dry, I don't bother with body lotions and body butters. That being said, I really liked using this sample. If I'm ever in need of a body butter, I would consider this one. Not really sure if it does indeed make you look better naked.

Hair
L'Oreal Color Vibrancy Nourishing Conditioner: This is yet another product that has made an appearance in a favorites post. I really like this conditioner, and I think it is just as good as a lot of more expensive ones. It is very moisturizing and almost feels like a mask. I will repurchase this.

Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask: This sample was sent to me for review consideration, and I didn't like it enough to review it. I don't dislike this mask, but it doesn't do a better job than other hair masks at lower price points. To maintain the integrity of this blog, I just decided not to review. I liked it, but I didn't like it enough to buy a full size at around $30.

Argan Dew Miraculous Argan Oil: This oil is more of a silicone based hair product with natural oils included. My thoughts on this are the same as my thoughts on the previous product. This oil is very similar to the Hask Argan hair oil, and the Hask is more affordable.

Phyto Phytolisse Anti-frizz Finishing Serum: I really liked using this sample. A little goes a long way, and it did a great job at keeping the frizz to a minimum. If I can get through all of the hair products I currently have in my stash, I would consider purchasing this serum.

Makeup
YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation in BD 50 Beige Dore: This color was too dark for me, so I mixed it in with a foundation that's a bit light for me. I don't remember anything about this foundation really standing out. It was a thin consistency, but seemed to have pretty good coverage. I used the entire sample, but I will probably pass on this foundation.

Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox Beauty Balm SPF 25: I really like this bb cream and used it up really quickly! This is a Korean bb cream that just comes in one color. It was a good color match for my pale skin. I have a couple of bb creams that I need to use up, but this one is by far my favorite. I will be repurchasing this.

Benefit They're Real mascara: This is a great mascara! I've used this many times and will probably end up using it again.

Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara: This mascara is $3 at Walgreens, and is one of the best mascaras I have ever used. I highly recommend this mascara, and I will repurchase it.

Revlon Lash Potion mascara: I liked using this mascara, but it did smudge a little by the end of the day. I have a full review with pictures HERE. I probably won't repurchase this one because Revlon just came out with another mascara. I would probably try that one out instead.

Covergirl Flamed Out mascara: I enjoyed using this mascara. I think I like the original Lash Blast the best out of the ones that I have tried, but I might get this again.

Origins Multi-Grain Makeup SPF 14: I used this as a setting powder and really liked it. The fact that it doesn't contain preservatives is very appealing to me. I got this at a Cosmetics Company Store (outlet), and I may get this again if I see it there.

That's all of my empties! I hope you found this post helpful in some way. Feel free to ask if you have questions about any of these products. What have you used up recently?

-xoxo Lauren

April Favorites

It's April Favorites time! I hope you all had a great month of April. I had a busy month, but it was great to have so much work. Because I was so busy, I didn't change up my makeup looks as frequently as I normally would.

I had so much fun coming up with different looks using the BH Cosmetics Forever Glam palette. (Full review with swatches and looks HERE.) It was really versatile. You can use this palette for neutral or dramatic looks. It really came in handy when my schedule was so busy.

When I wasn't using the Forever Glam palette, my look was more of very bare looking eyes with a bright lip. The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in La Diva was my bright lip of choice. I cannot get enough of this lipstick! I love it with the Chanel Sonic Pink lip liner. (Full review and swatches of that lip combo HERE.)

MAC Painterly Paint Pot is one of my favorite products from MAC, and I have put it to use this month. It's a good match for my skin tone and provides an even canvas for my eyes. I have been wearing it on its own with a light brown (MAC Era or Soft Brown) in the crease, no liner, and Too Faced Better Than False Lashes. That eye look is great with a bold lip, so that's the kind of look I've been doing when I want to wear La Diva on my lips.

Even though I have mixed feeling on the Too Faced Better Than False Lashes, it is a favorite for the month of April. I did a lot of singing this past month, so having this lash extending system was very convenient. If I top it off with another mascara, then it works perfectly for me. This became a favorite when I figured out how to make it work for me. (Full review HERE.)

I received the Valentia Even Glow Vitamin C Serum for review recently, and it has really helped my skin!  I have had a minor head cold this past week and have been blowing my nose nonstop, making the skin around my nose red and flaky. I was scared to put any product on that area, but after a couple of days I decided to try this all over my face. This serum did not sting my nose at all, and it made my skin stop flaking after using it once. That is amazing to me and makes this product an immediate favorite! I have not had this serum long enough to really tell you my thoughts on it, and I plan on doing a full review after I have lived with this a little longer.

That's my short list of favorite beauty products that I used over the past month! What have you been loving? I love to hear from all of you! It makes my day!

-xoxo Lauren
