Oz Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum

It seems as if I have yet to meet a serum I do not like lately, so I return with another serum review. This one is a little different from the vitamin C serums I have reviewed. The Oz Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum is, as the name suggests, a serum that is has an active ingredient of hyaluronic acid with a bit of vitamin C. Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient in many skincare products that helps the skin retain moisture and give a plumped up appearance.

Here are the claims from the company.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum:

- Delivers a youthful and vibrant appearance to your skin

- Reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness

- Diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Formulated with the highest concentration of pharmaceutical HA
- Contains the same HA used in the world's most expensive serums
- Boosts Collagen Production For An Instant Youthful Appearance
- Made in the USA In Our Advanced FDA Registered Facility
Our Hyaluronic Acid Contains Vitamin C For Superior Anti Aging Effects

The Oz Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. The consistency of the product is almost like a gel, a thin gel. I really like the way that gel type products feel on the skin, not too heavy but still moisturizing.

I have been using this serum in the morning before I apply my moisturizer with spf and in the evening. It soaks in and dries very quickly, so I don't have to wait very long before applying a moisturizer over it. In the evening, I have just been wearing the serum by itself. I find that it has been hydrating enough on its own for my skin. If you have drier skin, then a cream would work well over this.

The hyaluronic acid adds a little bit of plumpness to my skin at the superficial level when I wear this, so I really enjoy the extra bit of smoothness. My favorite thing about this serum is that my skin feels hydrated without getting oily. According to the claims, it looks like you can use the serum under the eyes, but I haven't tried it. I've just been using an eye cream at night.

During the summer, I really like to use products that aren't fussy or complicated, and this serum really fits into that. The Oz Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum can be purchased on Amazon for $18.99.

Do you make any changes to your skincare during the summer?

Cosmetics Company Store MAC Haul

MAC is constantly coming out with collections, and I will be the first to admit that I am probably a bad beauty blogger for not keeping up with them all. By the time I figure out what I want from a collection, it's usually sold out everywhere because of the hype and is being sold for twice the cost on Ebay. No thanks! That's why I am so lucky to live relatively close to a great outlet mall that has a Cosmetics Company Store. A Cosmetics Company Store is an outlet that sells many of the brands owned by Estee Lauder, including MAC, at a discount. The fun thing for me is that the Cosmetics Company Store sells both permanent and limited edition products, so there's always a chance of discovering a makeup gem that;s no longer in stock anywhere else. Here's my recent little haul!

First up is the Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Silver Dawn. This limited edition eyeshadow was released at the end of 2013 in the Magnetic Nudes collection. I was amazed to find this! The color is a beautiful shimmery taupe/pewter color that makes for an easy, worn-in smokey eye. The extra dimension eye shadows can be worn wet or dry. I have only worn them dry and haven't had any problems with color payoff.

I was also pleased to find MAC's Kid eye shadow. This is a pretty basic MAC eye shadow that most MAC addicts already have, but I didn't have this one in my collection. Kid is a very easy to wear neutral crease and transition color. I have a feeling this color will be getting a lot of use.

The Mineralize Skinfinish in Adored is another limited edition product that I was happy to find! Adored was released with last summer's Tropical Taboo collection. I feel like the Mineralize Skinfinishes are one of those products that I always buy from MAC, but then end up not using. This one isn't like that at all. I can really see myself getting a lot of use out of it as a blush and highlighter. It's a light peach color with a lot of fine shimmer. This Mineralize Skinfinish doesn't have chunky glitter like may of them. For some reason, this product doesn't build up when swatched, but it really shows up on the cheeks. I really love what it does for my skin when used as a blush!

Top-bottom: Silver Dawn, Kid, Adored

As soon as the photographs were taken, I had to start putting all of the products on! How can we resist? I put Silver Dawn on my lids and Kid in the crease. I really like these eyeshadows together! Adored is on my cheeks, and I really like how it acts as a blush and highlighter in one!

Did any of you snag any of the limited edition products the first time around? Get any goodies recently? I'd love to know what limited edition products you have that you have been loving!

Floating at The Float Spot

"A spa. Isn't that like your mothership?" This may quite possibly be my favorite line from Legally Blonde. There's nothing I seem to enjoy more these days than a new spa treatment, especially one that can ease my tired muscles and joints. I've turned into a bit of a gym rat in the past couple of years, and while I love seeing the results of my time with the barbell, I often feel a little achy. The Float Spot in Frisco, TX sounded like just what I needed.

In the lobby

Products you can buy

What is The Float Spot?
So what exactly do you do at The Float Spot that's so different from any other spa? So glad you asked! You float! Say what?! This isn't your typical floating around in a pool. You float in your own i-sopod of 300 gallons of water that has 1100 pounds of medical grade Epsom salts in it that's heated to approximately 92 degrees Fahrenheit. My husband and I were so curious about how floating would make us feel, so we just had to try it.

My i-sopod

This is still confusing. How exactly does this work?
Floating times come in 30 minute, 60 minute, or 90 minute floats. We both opted for 30 minute floats. When we got to The Float Spot, we were taken to our own rooms that have a the i-sopod and a shower. Before you begin your float, you quickly rinse off in the shower just to remove the natural oils in your skin. Then, still in your birthday suit, you get into your i-sopod and close the lid. You can keep the lid open, but you do have a lot of room. I thought I wouldn't like being in an enclosed space, but you have a lot of room in there! The blue light inside of the i-sopod stays on for a few minutes, and there's a button inside the pod that you can press to keep it on. I was particularly relaxed by calming sounds of the ocean that were on for the first few minutes. Once the light and sounds are off, you're just there, floating in a state that must be the closest experience to being in the womb. It was quite tranquil. The only part that I did not find relaxing was that my neck and shoulders kept getting tense. I couldn't find a position that was comfortable for my upper body. A few minutes before your time is up, the light and the ocean sounds come back on. You know your time is completely up when the filtration system comes on and the water begins to move. My 30 minutes went by so quickly!

You shower off when you're finished. The shower has shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner for you, and all of it is paraben and sulfate free! Once you have finished showering and are dressed, you can go to a counter in the back that has hair dryers and styling products. They had a wet brush there, and I have added to a list of things I must buy. It went through my wet hair with such ease!

Things to remember (some of this is on the spa website)
-Don't shave right before you go! It will sting your skin if you do, and the salts will sting any little cuts or skin issues you have. I had some irritation on my scalp that stung a little when I first got in, but it wasn't bad.

-If you're particular about your hair products, then bring your own. I should have brought my own shampoo, but luckily I liked what they had.

-Drink a lot of water after you leave.

Final Thoughts
It was extremely relaxing and helped ease a bit of hip pain I was having from my tough workouts. The 30 minute float seemed short, so the 60 is probably the better option. I am glad that I opted for the 30 minute float instead of a longer one because I wasn't really sure how I would like the experience. I'm glad I tried it, and it was definitely the most unique spa treatment I have ever had.

What's the strangest spa treatment you've had? Did it work?

La Beaute Pure Vitamin C Serum Review and Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

There's something about the warmer months that make me start using vitamin C serums again. I guess all of the time spent out in the warm sunshine makes me think more about what's going on with my skin tone.
I have been using the La Beaute Pure Vitamin C Serum for several weeks, and I have almost used the entire 1 fl.oz./30ml bottle. This can be purchased from Amazon, and is currently on sale for $24.99. La Beaute Pure Vitamin C serum is also cruelty free!

Like most vitamin C serums, this one comes in an amber glass bottle, and it has a dropper.  What makes this serum different from others is the consistency. This is a thin serum, almost like water. Another thing that makes this serum different from other vitamin C serums is the smell, or lack of smell. All of the other vitamin C serums I have used have had a citrus smell, but the La Beaute Pure does not. If you don't like your products smelling like oranges, then you might want to give this a try!

To use, you apply this morning or in the evening after you wash your face, and wait a couple of minutes before applying your moisturizer. I have been using this twice a day because it is extremely lightweight and does not make my skin oily at all, and it worked in with the skin care I was already using. This is probably my favorite thing about this product and why I like it so much. Normally, I have to just use a vitamin C serum on its own at night because it gives enough moisture for my skin, and adding a moisturizer over the serum would be too much. This one is light enough that I can use it in the morning under my moisturizer with spf and in the evening under a light moisturizing gel. This is a great option for people with oily skin.

Now, on to the giveaway! One winner will receive a bottle of the La Beaute Pure Vitamin C serum. This giveaway is open to US residents only. (Don't worry! I have an international giveaway that I am planning for later on in  the summer.) The giveaway will be open until June 28. Good luck!

May Empties and Two Favorites

There were many things that I loved during the month of May, but it's mostly the same old stuff I've been telling you about. I just have a couple of new things that I will share at the end of this post. There were a lot of products that were almost used up, so I just went ahead this month and finished them off. It's nice to clear out a little space.

This might get festive.

Hair
Giovanni Nutrafix hair Reconstructor
I really liked this deep conditioner. Giovanni is a more natural brand with vegan and vegetarian options, and it's cruelty free. This is probably the best conditioner I have found that does not have silicones in the ingredients. I got this at Ulta for around $8, but I couldn't find it on the Ulta website. I hope this hasn't been discontinued! I would get this again if I can find it.

Hask Argan Oil  Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment*
I like this hair mask, but the packaging is a bit frustrating. You can get multiple uses out of the package, but it is not resealable. I sealed it in a plastic bag, but I ended up loosing some product because it got a little smashed in my bathroom. Hask does great hair products for the price, though. I would go purchase this, but I would have to put the product in another container.

Pantene Repair & Protect Shampoo
Shampoos with sulfates aren't typically my thing, but I was pleasantly surprised by this shampoo! It left my hair feeling soft, and I would use this to get product buildup out of my hair. I would repurchase this.

Skin Care - Cleansers
Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
I use up a couple of these every month. These are my favorites of the towelettes. I will keep repurchasing these.

Kinerase Skin Smoothing Cleanser
This was a nice foam cleanser that I used in the mornings. It was nice, but I'm pretty sure a cleanser cannot give you smoother skin on its own. I'm not sure if I would use this again.

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cleanser
I liked this cleanser more during the winter. This was going to expire soon, so I decided to go ahead and use it up. It cleansed my face without making it feel stripped and tight, and I found it to be as hydrating as a cleanser can be. I would purchase this again, but it would be in the winter.

Skin Care
Sibu Sea Buckthorn Age Defying Eye Cream
I really love Sibu's Sea Buckthorn oil, so I decided to try the eye cream. It was okay, but it wasn't really hydrating and didn't do anything impressive. I wanted to like it and expected to like it, but I'll pass on using this again.

Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion SPF 30
I have used this before in the full size, and I got the small size for travel. This face lotion is lightweight and hydrating and is a great option for oily skin. I really like it, and I would use it again.

Olay Complete Daily Defense All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 30
This is a great formula for sensitive skin. It's moisturizing without being heavy. I really like this and have used it before. I have a coupon for this, so I will be making a purchase soon!

Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer with SPF 30
This is the second bottle of this product that I have used. Every one I have purchased has come with a $2 off coupon for another one. This is a really good value even if you had to pay full price because it contains 4 fl oz/ 118mL. Typically, with these you only get 1-2.5 fl oz. This is specifically formulated for acne-prone skin. This is my favorite moisturizer with spf for the summer. I will get this again before it gets crazy hot in Texas.

Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Eye Treatment Gel sample
I was able to get a few applications out of this sample. It was very luxurious and hydrating, and I enjoyed using it. The packet says it has bamboo sap in it. I did like using it, but Amore Pacific is a rather expensive brand. I think I have another sample of this, so I may need to use it before I can decide how I feel about it. I did like it much more than the one from Sibu

Body Care
North Coast Organics - Death By Lavender All Natural Deodorant
I wouldn't normally show deodorant here, but I won this through a giveaway that Sissi from Beauty4Free2U had on her blog. I prefer to use a natural deodorant, and this brand has the most effective natural deodorants that I have ever used. I plan on doing a full review of all of the products I received because they are that good. Here's the company's website, if you are interested in any of their products. They have a list of stores that sell these too.

Flower by Kenzo eau de parfum sample
The notes of this fragrance are Bulgarian rose, parma violet, bourbon vanilla, and white musk. I smell a little floral and a lot of the vanilla and musk. I enjoyed wearing this sample, but it's not one that I'm going to run and buy. Of the perfume samples I have used recently, this is one of my favorites.

Victoria's Secret Body Wash - Delicate Petals
I'm not really into the Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret body care products, but I will go for the shower gels. I'm not a huge fan of body sprays, but if there's a scent I like, then I like to enjoy it in the shower gel. I would use this again.

Makeup
Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara sample
This mascara provided my lashes with volume but without any clumps. The brush has short rubber bristles rather than the traditional nylon bristles. The brush seemed to make the difference for me. Since you can get such great mascaras at the drugstore, I don't think I'll be buying a full size of this. It was great to try!

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara sample
This did lengthen my lashes and didn't make them feel dry and crunchy. The formula reminds me of the Maybelline Mega Plush mascara, but the Elizabeth Arden is a little thicker than the Maybelline. This mascara mostly gives length, but you can get a little bit of volume too. I'm not sure if I would buy a full size because of the price.

Whoa, that was a lot of empties for just one month, but wait! There's more! I have added a couple of favorites for you.

Favorites
I'm loving oils right now, and these two are really the only products that are different from my previous favorites and reviews. I use coconut oil for oil pulling because it actually helps me with some jaw issues that I have had. It has helped me out a lot! Here's one of the more practical articles on oil pulling with some links to peer reviewed journals if you would like information on what oil pulling is. You can also use coconut oil on your hair and as an allover moisturizer. My other favorite is the Desert Essence jojoba oil. I have been using this instead of body lotion and body butter. It's extremely moisturizing and absorbs quickly, so it doesn't leave your skin feeling oily.

Now that's everything! What have you used up recently? Anything you plan on getting again?

The Bergdorf Goodman Glossybox

Every month, I enjoy seeing what everyone got in their Ipsy bags and Birchboxes, and while I would really like to sign up for a beauty subscription service, I haven't felt the need to do so. My collection of samples is already out of control without it! When I heard that Glossybox was doing a box to be sold at Bergdorf Goodman, I was interested in trying it out.

Nicely pacakged

This is a one-time box that I purchased off of the Bergdorf Goodman website for $40 that contains six deluxe samples from high end beauty companies. (The price of a Glossybox purchased directly from Glossybox is $21/month.) If you already have a Glossybox subscription, then this is the May Glossybox, and a $25 gift certificate to Bergdorf Goodman is included for customers with a subscription.

A box of goodies!
Card explaining what the goodies are!
Now, on to each product I received!

Kevyn Aucoin - The Essential Mascara
This mascara claims to lengthen and curl your lashes and has a curved brush.
I love mascara samples and always use them.
I don't have anything from Kevyn Aucoin, so I'm happy I got this.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream
This is a leave-in hair treatment that claims to have ten benefits.
I was hoping that this product would come in the box!
I am interested in comparing this to the It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In.

Lancer - Lift Serum Intense
This is a pretty generous sample with a pump.
This face serum is fancy -- gold is an ingredient fancy.
I'm glad I have a sample to try as a full size is $275.
For that price, you might as well just go get botox or a filler, but that's just my opinion.
I'm happy to something from a brand I don't know.

Revive - Intensite Volumizing Eye Serum
The product claims to plump the undereye area and reduce dark circles.
A full size costs a whopping $350.
It's a generous sample with a pump.

Napoleon Perdis - Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer
I'm not a fan of most primers, so I was the least excited about this.
I may not open it and use it in a giveaway instead.
Have you used this primer?
Let me know what you think about it and if I should try it!

Atelier Cologne - Rose Anonyme Cologne Absolue
This is another sample I wanted!
The fragrance contains notes of rose, ginger, oud, and patchouli, and incense.
I definitely get the rose, ginger, and incense.
This makes for a very interesting rose based fragrance because rose is the only flower here.
The incense and oud give the rose a lot of depth, and I find it interesting and unexpected.
If you are into sweet florals, then this may not be the fragrance for you.

Overall Thoughts
I'm really glad I ordered this box and am really impressed with Glossybox in general.
Most of these products are something that I wouldn't have been able to try otherwise.
This is my first experience using products from every single brand that was included!
I am very pleased with my experience, and Glossybox would more than likely be the subscription service I use when I finally decide to get one.

What about you? Have you every subscribed to Glossybox, or do you subscribe to other subscription services? I would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

-xoxo Lauren
