May Favorites

I don't have a long list of favorites for this past month, but there are a few beauty items that I have been loving. A couple of these were even pleasant surprises. It's so nice to find unexpected favorites!

Maybelline The Nudes Palette - This was such a pleasant surprise! I wasn't expecting to like this palette as much as I do. I have a review and swatches in the works.

Becca Mineral Blush in Gypsy - Gypsy is a shimmery ballerina pink. It gives just the right amount of color to the cheeks on fair skin. The color is very cool toned and almost looks like a lilac color depending on the lighting.

Becca Mineral Blush - Gypsy
Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily Anti-Acne - Light/Medium - I got a sample of this in a magazine and somehow felt compelled to give it a try. It's a really great bb cream! I've gotten a lot of use out of this tiny sample, and I like how my skin looks when I wear it. The sample came with a coupon, so I'll have to get it the next time I go to Ulta. Yet another pleasant surprise!

Dolce eau de parfum - Spring in a bottle! Dolce is light and fresh and clean smelling. This is an understated fragrance -- perfect for the rising temperatures.

Conair Infiniti Pro Dryer - I have saved the best for last! I have been searching for a new hair dryer since my Sedu croaked last month, and I happened to read some good reviews on this dryer. To be in the $30-$40 price range, this hair dryer is amazing. Do I think that this is exactly the same as my expensive Sedu? No, it's not quite as good as my Sedu. Do I think that you should probably just get this one instead of a $200 hair dryer? Yes! It dries quickly and has a strong air flow, and it keeps my frizz in control. The filter is removable, so you can take it off, clean it, and reattach it. My Sedu didn't have that feature. If you are in the market for a new hair dryer, have a look at this one.

That's it for my May Favorites! Have you found any surprise beauty product gems lately?

Dior Rosy Glow Blush

You cannot talk about anything skin related, whether it's foundation, blush, or bronzer, without bringing up the word glow. I think you know what I mean--that certain something that makes your face look healthy and alive. Sometimes it means a little shimmer or dewiness, and sometimes it means just the right pop of color to make you look vibrant. Today, we're talking about glow that you get from using the Dior Rosy Glow blush.

Dior describes this as:
A universally flattering, finely milled blush adjusts to your skin's chemistry to create the look of naturally flushed, rosy cheeks. Each Rosy Glow Blush comes in a sleek silver case with an easy-to-use brush applicator and features an embossed Dior logo pattern. Petal's universal tone works on all skin tones. The ultra-fine powder texture and irresistible rose fragrance offer a moment of pure indulgence with each application.

Just from reading what Dior says about the product, I can tell you that the scent that they're talking about is very faint. I didn't even know that this was supposed to have a scent until I read that! You have to sniff the blush in the pan (and who does that?) to be able to smell anything. I consider that a good thing because fragrance isn't something that I really want or need in my face products.

Indoor light

I can't really attest to this being self-adjusting, but I do know that I have loved this blush on everyone I've seen wearing it. Honestly, I don't think that Rosy Glow would show up really well on dark skin tones, but it is lovely on fair to medium skin. There's no shimmer in this product, but it really doesn't need it at all. Most of the time, I skip highlighter completely when I wear it. Rosy Glow has great wear time and goes with everything. This is my new go-to blush for spring.

Wearing Rosy Glow

What are your thoughts on Rosy Glow? Have you tried this blush? Do you think you might have a dupe? I would love to know!

YSL Glossy Stains

Hello everyone, and welcome to my little corner of the Internet! When I go out, one of the last things I want to think about is my lipstick wearing off, and when food is involved, I would prefer to not eat my lipstick. That's just gross! Luckily, I have found the best long-wearing lip product to set my mind at ease -- the YSL Glossy Stains!

Rose Vinyl #15, Corail Aquatique #7, Fuchsia Fugative #109

When the Glossy Stains were first released, I got Corail Aquatique #7. This quickly became one of my favorite lip products because it's a long-wearing lip product with a glossy finish. Since I've been using the #7 like crazy, I decided to go get a couple of pink shades -- Rose Vinyl #15 and Fuchsia Fugitive #109. Both of these shades are medium toned pinks, but Fuchsia Fugitive has gold shimmer in it. Fuchsia Fugitive is also part of the Rebel Nudes collection.

The applicator comes to a point and allows you to be as precise as you need to be. When you apply these, it's best to apply in one direction and apply in layers. If you go back and forth with the applicator, then that tends to take off what you have already applied.
Once you apply it, the product feels a little tacky on your lips until it dries. Then, you're set!

The YSL Glossy Stains are extremely long wearing and do not have an uncomfortable feel on the lips for a long wearing lip product. I don't find these particularly drying on the lips, but I wouldn't reach for one of these if my lips were already dry and cracked. The glossy stains will wear off if you wear them all day without reapplying, but you have to wear it a full day to get a lot of wear. They really stay on well, and when they finally wear off, it's even and isn't patchy.

Have you tried any of the YSL Glossy Stains? What colors do you recommend?

Also, I'm finally on Pinterest and am now on Snapchat as singformakeup! Please feel free to add me, and I will gladly add you back!

April Empties

Hi everyone! I have quite a bit of empties today. I didn't have a lot of empties at the end of March, so I waited to post. I think I have plenty for you now!

Bath & Body Care

Aura Cacia Lavender Essential Oil - I enjoy a few drops of this in a bath with Epsom salts after a long day. Some people's skin cannot tolerate certain essential oils, but I supposed that's also true for many other things. I already have a new bottle of lavender.

Nair Hair Remover Silky Sensations Pomegranate and Soy - I don't use a lot of hair remover, but this one was okay. I haven't repurchased it yet, but I probably will.

Banana Boat UltraMist Protect & Hydrate Clear Spray SPF 50+ - They spray sunscreens from Banana Boat are very convenient. This one absorbs quickly, doesn't feel greasy, and doesn't have a strong smell. I need all of those things for an everyday sunscreen. I plan on repurchasing this.

e.l.f. Lotion Wipes - Vanilla and Coconut - I really enjoyed using these lotion wipes. They were easy and convenient. These are great if you need lotion on the go. I'm glad that I tried them out, but I won't repurchase them because they have parabens. Also, I felt a bit wasteful throwing away the wipes. I already use enough wipes without using lotion wipes.

Mia Mariu Refreshing Foaming Gel Cleanser - This was a nice cleanser that got sent to me for review. See review here. It was a great cleanser for my combination skin. I have quite a stash of cleansers at the moment, so I won't be repurchasing any until I use up a few.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes - These end up in every empties post, so I'm sure you've heard enough of me raving about these. I used up a 7-count and a 25-count pack. These are my favorite of the makeup wipes.

Perricone MD Blue Plasma - I loved this sample and raved about it in my January Favorites. I could tell a difference in my skin when I was using this. It's expensive, but I do plan on repurchasing. I've been trying to hold off and use what I have, but so far, nothing has compared to this.

Hair Care

Naturtint Permanent Hair Color - Honey Blonde - This is the best hair color I have ever used. The shade is very close to my natural hair color, so it looks very natural on me. This has been the only color I have used in about 4 years because it is gentle on my scalp. I highly recommend this brand if you color your hair regularly. It can be found at many health food stores and at

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin - I got this full size sample from Ulta. I really like the It's a 10 leave-in sprays. I am currently using the one for blondes.

Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Concealer - Light - This is a 2-in-1 concealer with a liquid concealer on one side and a concealer stick on the other. I used the liquid under my eyes and the stick for any blemishes on my face. It wasn't a bad product, but it wasn't so great that I would repurchase.

Inglot Freedom System AMC Pressed Powder - 55 - This powder was a great color match for me, and I liked how it looked on my skin. I used it to set my makeup. It was a good powder but not the best one I've ever used. I probably won't repurchase.

Ck One Mascara - I got this mascara as a free birthday gift from Ulta. I didn't like it. It was too dry for me and very difficult to remove. I stopped using it because my lashes were falling every time I removed my makeup.

Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara - I had the same issue with this mascara. I've tried several of Avon's mascaras over the last 2 years, and I haven't been all that impressed. Maybe I just haven't tried the right one.

Armani Eyes To Kill Excess Mascara - This is one of my favorite mascaras. I have a review of it here. It's expensive, but I will repurchase eventually.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara - I got this mascara sample from Sephora. I liked how the mascara made my lashes look, but the cone-shaped wand was a bit cumbersome to use. I wouldn't purchase a full size.

Oleavine All Natural Konjac Sponge - I've used this sponge for several months, and it's just time to toss it. You can sanatize it, but it's starting to break down. I really enjoyed this sponge, and I have a review here.

BH Cosmetics Glitter Nail File -  I wore this nail file out! I have a couple of nail cubes from Ulta that I really like using right now.

Sedu Revolution 4000i Hair Dryer - I've had this hair dryer for maybe 5 years, so I guess I shouldn't be too upset that it just didn't turn on one day. That being said, this is a really amazing hair dryer, and it is priced as such. It really is worth every penny, but I really don't want to fork over the money for another one right now. I got a Revlon hair dryer at TJMaxx, and used it for the first time today. It's not the same -- at all. I'm going to have to get a better hair dryer eventually.

That leaves my product empties count at 34 for the year. I decided not to include tools in my empties count. Have you used any of these products?

-xoxo Lauren
