I Love Fall Tag

I was tagged by Tanya from Leopard Lace and Cheesecake to do the I Love Fall Tag. It has been a while since I've been tagged for anything, and this is a fun one! Thanks for tagging me!

What is your favorite fall month?
Even though it's not entirely in the fall, I'm going to say September. My birthday is at the end of September and at the beginning of fall, so I really enjoy that month. Also, September usually feels like a new beginning to me. I'm not in school anymore, so I'm not sure why. It just does.

What did you dress as for Halloween last year?
I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a few years. Even though I didn't dress up in costume last year, I did wear a fun pair of jack-o-lantern leggings that I got from Target. (Can't find them online--Sorry!) I plan on wearing them again this Halloween.

What is your favorite fall food?
I don't know if I have a favorite fall food. I do like sweet potatoes, so I guess that would be it.

Do you have any fall traditions?
Not really. My husband and I have been taking our vacations in the fall over the past couple of years, and my parents usually come to my house for Thanksgiving.

Do you have any Halloween traditions?
Not really. Until last year, I've been out of town and working on Halloween. Last year, I was home and got to pass out candy. It was so much fun! I plan on doing the same this year!

What music do you like to listen to during fall?
Well, since I'm a musician and fall starts getting really busy, I'm usually working on music for Christmas gigs. Unless I'm in the car, I don't really listen to music to listen to music. Do people change what they listen to in the fall?

What is your favorite fall outfit?
If it feels like fall, then it is leggings, a long sweater, and boots.

Favorite scary movie?
I don't like scary movies, but I LOVE just about anything Alfred Hitchcock. I'm also loving Scream Queens on tv right now. It's so silly!

S'mores or pumpkin pie?
S'mores, but I like pumpkin pie too.

Hot chocolate or warm apple cider?
I don't really drink either of the two, but given the choice I would go with warm apple cider.

Do you like pumpkin spice lattes?
No, it has too much sugar for me. I will make my own, though. I like to put cinnamon and nutmeg in my coffee at home. I do that a lot. So, no to the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte, but yes to the DIY no sugar version!

What is the best thing about your town during fall?
My town has an adorable town square, and they have an Oktoberfest at the end of September, usually around my birthday.

Tea or coffee?
Coffee all the time, and tea when it finally gets cold. I always have coffee in the morning, and sometimes I'll have another cup in the early afternoon. When it gets cold, I will have tea in the afternoon and herbal tea all day. It has been cold enough for me to make tea once this season. So particular about my hot beverages!

Cats or bats?

Do you enjoy carving jack-o-lanterns?
I've only done that a couple of times, but it was fun.

Do you enjoy visiting graveyards?
Not really. I don't find graveyards all that spooky.

What is your favorite fall memory?
My husband and I visited Helen, GA in the fall the first year we started dating. That's a nice fall memory. Elle from Ellesees visited Helen recently, and seeing all of her wonderful pictures brought back a lot of memories.

Gloves or mittens?
Gloves - I would like to get a nice pair of leather gloves for the upcoming months. I've been saying that for a few years, so we'll see if I actually find any.

Do you enjoy the other seasons?
Yes! I'm not super enthusiastic about the middle of summer because I've always lived in places with crazy hot summers. In general, I love the idea of having four seasons, but sometimes I don't really get to experience all of them where I live.

How do you plan to spend this Halloween?
Passing out candy! I'm really excited about it.

In one sentence...why do you love fall so much?
I love having a break from the heat.

What is your favorite fall makeup look?
I like wearing darker lipstick and more red lipsticks in the fall than in spring/summer.

What is your favorite fall candle scent?
I like candles that smell like baked goods -- pumpkin pie, cupcakes, apple pie. Yum!

Do you enjoy cold weather?
Yes, I do! It's probably because it doesn't last very long. If I lived in a different part of the country, then I'm sure my answer would be different.

What is your least favorite thing about fall?
Fall seems to fly by so quickly! I get so busy during the fall, that it seems to be over before I know it. Seriously, where did October go?

What is your favorite Halloween candy?
I love all of the fun size chocolate candy bars, and that's exactly why I got fruity, chewy candy to pass out. Ha!

What is the one thing you'd love to try during fall but haven't yet?
The Texas State Fair! I've had too much going on to go since I've lived here, but next year I'm going to make a point to go. I don't really enjoy fair rides, so it hasn't been up there on my list so far. I would like to go and try the crazy food, though!

This was such a fun tag! If you haven't gotten tagged by anyone and you want to do, then consider yourself tagged! Have a happy Halloween!

Play! by Sephora | October 2015

I received my second box from Play! by Sephora last week. For those of you that are curious, Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box for $10 a month that contains six samples every month. All of the samples are of products that you can purchase at Sephora. There was a waiting list when I signed up, and I got an email when the service became available to me. You can go to sephora.com/play if you want to get on the list.

The theme of this box is Secrets to Dewy Skin. Let's take a look inside.

Fresh Black Tea Age-Dealy Instant Infusion Treatment Toner - is a moisturizing toner. Not too exciting, but I'll give it a try. I do like the Fresh brand as a whole. They use more natural ingredients than most brands.

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb - is a lightweight gel-cream. I haven't heard of this brand. Evidently, it's a Korean skincare brand. I like creams that are lightweight, so I'm happy to have a sample of this.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Day Tint SPF15 - is a tinted moisturizer with spf15. It has very light coverage and gives me a bit of color, but I'm really light. This wouldn't work for darker skin tones. I feel like the spf15 is pointless. You really need about spf30, so I still have to apply my daily moisturizer before this. It's not a decent replacement for me. I do like it for minimal makeup days. I'm wearing it in the picture below without any concealer (except under my eyes) or setting powder.

Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser - is a purifying gel cleanser. I used it with the small konjac sponge that came with it, and my face felt super clean. I'm a fan of gel cleansers, and I like this one. I don't see the point in using a cleanser if your face doesn't feel clean afterwards.

Sephora Pearl Mask - is a sheet mask containing real white pearl. I was excited to give this a try, but I didn't really like how it felt on my skin after I removed the mask. I was expecting it to feel like a serum, but it was a little too heavy for my taste. It never really sank in to my skin. I used it in the morning, and I think I would have felt differently about it if I used it as a nighttime treatment. That's how I plan on using my other sheet masks.

Atelier Cologne Mandarine Glaciale - If Sephora is going to include small fragrance samples, then it should be from niche houses like Atelier Cologne and not something I can go smell anywhere. This particular fragrance is a bright citrus scent. Fragrances from Atelier Cologne are unisex, and I happen to think this one would smell better on my husband than me. I'm not a huge fan of citrus fragrances anyway, but I'm glad I got to give this one a try. My husband enjoys cologne samples, so it all works out.

Overall, I like this box, but it was far less exciting than last month's box. There were a couple of distinct misses in this box for me, and I'm not sure there were any true hits there either. The products that I do like aren't very exciting anyway. Like last month, there's a booklet with lots of helpful information about each product and a Play Pass that gives 50 extra beauty insider points with an in-store purchase.

Glossybox | October 2015

My October Glossybox just came in the mail! I'm so excited to show you this cute box. The theme of this box is Vive la France and arrived in this adorable box.

If you don't know what Glossybox is, it's a monthly beauty subscription service that delivers five deluxe and often full size beauty products to you. The cost is $21 a month, but you can buy a 6 or 12 month subscription and pay up front. The 12 month subscription comes at a bit of a discount. If you decide to subscribe to Glossybox, you get points for referring people and for taking surveys on the products included in the box. The points go toward a free box! Here's my referral link for anyone interested.

Phyto Huile Soyeuse Lightweight Hydrating Oil - is described as having the lightness of a cream with the hydration of an oil. I've only used it once, but I like it so far. Leave-in products are always in my hair care routine, but I don't like for my hair to feel weighed down. So far, this product does what is says!

De Bruyere Paris Red Lipgloss - feels more like a lip cream on the lips. It's not sticky at all, and the gloss is super pigmented. I don't think this is available in the US, but the link above is to the French website.

Carven Le Parfum - is a lovely fragrance to transition into fall. It's not overpowering but more complex than a lighter summer fragrance. Carven le parfum is a white floral with some woody notes. This is a sweet floral fragrance that is very easy to wear. How cute is this miniature bottle?

Lollipops Make Up Paris Nail Lacquer in Voyage a Paris - is a bright red nail polish. It stayed on my nails without chipping easily. I have a lot of red nail polish, but this is nice one!

Nuxe Gentle Exfoliating Gel with Rose Petals - is so gentle that I could use this every day even though this is meant for 1-2 times a week. It's perfect for sensitive skin.

I love the theme and the cute box this month. It was nice to try French brands, especially the ones that aren't available in the US. Overall, I'm really satisfied with the contents of this Glossybox. I don't think there's anything in here that won't get used. It's another successful box!

What would be your favorite product out of this box? Leave a comment letting me know!

Sample September Empties

I decided to participate in a Sample September this past month to use up my large stash of samples. While I did use up a lot of sample size products, I didn't use any many as I thought I would. That's mostly due to me using a sample set of Perricone MD products that were trial size. I'm still using some of those products, but most of them are starting to come to an end. Here's what I used!

Bath & Body

Marc Jacobs Dot Fresh Shower Gel - This came in a fragrance gift set that I got as a Christmas gift. I enjoyed the nice fruity floral scent in the shower. Typically, these perfumed shower gels aren't that great, but this one was nice.

Lancome La vie est belle Shower Gel - Another shower gel that came in a gift set. I really like this as a perfume, but the shower gel did not smell nice at all. Some fragrances just aren't meant to be in shower gel form.

Twirl by Kate Spade Body Lotion - This was a really nice lotion with a pleasant fruity scent. I was surprised by how much I liked it.

Sisley-Paris Phyto-Svelt Global Intensive Anti-cellulite Contouring Body Care - I don't believe in any lotion that claims to remove cellulite, so I used this as just a body lotion. It was moisturizing without being heavy and had a refreshing herbal scent. It's a nice product, but I'm not even going to tell you how much a full size is!

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen spf 30 - This was a nice sunscreen. Not much to say about. I liked it, but I usually prefer spray sunscreens to use on my body for convenience.

Ziaja Goat's Milk Hand Cream - I didn't get many uses from this small sample, but I liked it. It was a thick hand cream and very moisturizing.

Ziaja Goat's Milk Body Lotion - Very moisturizing body lotion, and I liked that it didn't have much of a scent. Both Ziaja products are pH balanced.

Skin Care

Sisley Paris Instant Perfect - This is a skin perfector similar to Benefit's the Porefessional primer. I liked it, but there are even better perfecting/priming products out there that are less than half the cost of this.

L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Original - Another skin perfector like the one above. I liked this too, but I would really like to try the one that also has spf 30. This is a great drugstore option.

Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Eye Treatment Gel - I really enjoyed using this sample. The gel is very thick and hydrating. Amore Pacific is a splurge brand, but this product may be worth it.

L'Oreal Revitalift Triple Power Day Lotion SPF 20 - I only got one use out of this, but it felt really nice. I liked it, but I prefer spf 30 in my day moisturizer.

Perricone MD High Potency Eye Lift - I got a lot of use out of this trial size product, so the full size will last a long time. I like it, but it's $100 a bottle. It's on Amazon right now for $43, if you are thinking about trying it!

Freeman Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask - I really like that you can just purchase a sample size of the Freeman masks for $1.99. I got four uses out of this, and I like it. It's a good mask for combination skin. I feel like this cleaned out my pores without drying out my skin. I think I prefer these smaller packs to a huge tube. That's nice to know!

Makeup & Hair Care

Ultraflesh Panthera Mascara - A friend of mine loves this mascara, so she sent me some samples. I've been burning through them. Ultraflesh was sold at Sephora a couple of years ago, but there's no sign of this brand anywhere now.

Dior Diorskin Nude BB Creme 001 Light - It's in a YSL container, but it's the Dior bb creme. I don't know what it is about this bb creme, but it made my skin look fantastic! This is on my list. I've actually tried to buy this before, and the counter was out of my color. I will keep getting samples until they get it back in stock. Good stuff!

Oribe Bright Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner - The shampoo is a purple sulfate free shampoo, and the conditioner has a slight purple color, too. I think my expectations were a little too high because it's Oribe. I really like Oribe's styling products, but I think you should save your money when it comes to their shampoos and conditioners. I wasn't impressed.

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker - This is the only celebrity fragrance that I own in a full size. It's beautiful and elegant without being overpowering. Beautiful fragrance that's inexpensive!

Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo - This is a pretty floral fragrance. I like it, but I'm not sure if it's one I would want to wear every day.

Couture Couture by Juicy Couture - This fragrance is a white floral with citrus. Juicy Couture fragrances aren't really for me, but this was a nice one for the end of summer heat.

Peace, Love, & Juicy Couture - This smelled similar to Couture Couture but with an earthy note to it. It was nice, but it didn't last long on my skin.

That's all of my samples! Doing this kind of challenge really puts into perspective how long it takes to use up products. I got many uses out of some of the tiny samples. While I did go through quite a few samples, I was expecting to use up more than what I did.

Do you love samples? They are a great way to find new products and try something different. Let me know if there is a product that I need to sample!

Glossybox | September 2015

I have had my eye on Glossybox for quite some time now, and I even purchased the Bergdorf Goodman Glossybox last year. Since I've been looking at this for so long, I decided that I wanted a subscription for my birthday.

If you don't know what Glossybox is, it's a monthly beauty subscription service that delivers five deluxe and often full size beauty products to you. The cost is $21 a month, but you can buy a 6 or 12 month subscription and pay up front. The 12 month subscription comes at a bit of a discount. I wanted to try Glossybox because it seems that they include high quality brands that either I haven't heard of or are more higher end. I just wanted a box that didn't include products that I can go around the corner and buy. If you decide to subscribe to Glossybox, you get points for referring people and for taking surveys on the products included in the box. The points go toward a free box! Here's my referral link for anyone interested.

Let's get into the products in this box!

Julep Luxe Lip Conditioning Treatment in Sheer Coral ($24/.42 oz - full size in box)- I'll admit I was a bit disappointed when I first saw this in my box, but the more I use it the more I like it. The color is way too sheer to show up on even me, and I'm super pale! It is a fantasic lip treatment, though. I put this on before I do my makeup to hydrate my lips. It feels like a lip balm with a bit of oil. This would be great at night too.

Coffea Coffee Scrub ($16/7 oz - 3.5 oz sample) - I haven't tried this sample yet, but I'm excited to try a coffee scrub. I'm a huge fan of coffee, so this is a great product for me to try. This bag is resealable, but it looks like it's still going to be a bit messy. This is a large size sample.

Biossanse The Revitalizer ($58/1.7 oz - .05 oz sample) - I haven't used this yet, but I'm intrigued by the product. The only ingredient is squalane. I think it's marketed to be used on your face, but it says you can also use it on your hair or any dry patches on your body. I may try this on my hands. This sample comes with in a nice glass bottle with a dropper.

Emite Make Up Artist Colour Powder Blush - 108 ($22/.35 oz - full size) - I have never heard of this brand before, so I'm happy to try something new. This color is described as a warm, peach-toned blush, and I agree. On me, this looks like a nude blush with maybe a hint of peach. You have to use a light hand with this, so make sure you tap off your brush. It can be a bit difficult to blend if you start off with too much product. This blush is pigmented!

Nails Inc Nail Polish - Uptown ($14/.47 oz - .33 oz sample) - This dusty pink color is so nice. This has turned out to be my favorite product in the box. The color is very wearable and the formula is long lasting. The sample is almost full size.

Each box comes with a card describing each product and how much it retails for at full size. It also includes tips and additional information to help you use each product. This box also came with a coupon for BaubleBar, but it expired rather quickly. This wasn't at the fault of Glossybox; I was out of town the week that the box arrived. Overall, I'm really impressed with this box. I received great brands that I had heard of and some that are completely new to me. The full size products made this box a great value.

What are your thoughts on subscription boxes? Do you have any subscriptions?

Thank you so much for reading!
