December 2015 Glossybox & Play! by Sephora

I have a 2-in-1 post for you today of my December Glossybox and Play! by Sephora box. The Glossybox arrived first, so I'll start there.

If you don't know what Glossybox is, it's a monthly beauty subscription service that delivers five deluxe and often full size beauty products to you. The cost is $21 a month, but you can buy a 6 or 12 month subscription and pay up front. The 12 month subscription comes at a bit of a discount. If you decide to subscribe to Glossybox, you get points for referring people and for taking surveys on the products included in the box. The points go toward a free box! Here's my referral link for anyone interested. This month's box was a beautiful red and white snowflake pattern. Let's take a peek inside the box!

Color Club Nail Polish - Feverish - A deep burgundy red shade is great for the holidays and after. I've seen Color Club mentioned on blogs before, so I was really excited to see this in the box. It applied nicely and lasted about a week on my nails.

MTJ Cosmetics High Definition Mascara - Mascara is an item that I always welcome. I love mascara and go through it constantly. I haven't opened it yet because I have several open right now.

ColorPHlex Leave-In Treatment & Detangler - The most-used item out of this box so far, this is a moisturizing and lightweight leave-in treatment. It makes my hair feel soft and smooth.

Orogold 24K Hand Cream - This hand cream is a good option for people who don't like thick lotions. It's very moisturizing but dries super fast.

Glossybox Eyeshadow - Mauve - This is a product made by Glossybox. It's a pretty color. Sadly, mine arrived broken. I would contact Glossybox about it, but after swatching it, I know I have eyeshadows very similar to this one. It is a beautiful color.

I like the items that I got in my Glossybox this month, but it may be time to change my beauty profile. I've been getting quite a lot of nail polishes and hand creams.

On to Play! by Sephora! Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box for $10 a month that contains six samples every month. All of the samples are of products that you can purchase at Sephora. There was a waiting list when I signed up, and I got an email when the service became available to me. You can go to sephora.com/play if you want to get on the list. The theme for this month's box is Oh What Fun!

Nude Skincare Advanced Renewal Serum - There are a week's worth of samples of this serum. I also have a sample of the Nude face oil, so I'm looking forward to trying both of them together.

Smashbox Full Exposure Eye Shadow Duo - This is a duo from the Full Exposure palette. I got this palette as a Christmas gift (I got a lot of makeup for Christmas, so get ready!), so I will be passing this along.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes - Matte Black - I picked up this liner when Sephora was having their Black Friday deals, so I'll be passing this along as well. It is a good liner. I sort of wish they would have included a different color in this because this exact liner was a Black Friday deal at Sephora this year.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb - I already have a full size of this and a couple of samples. I really enjoy this fragrance, and I even have a review of it here

Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion - I love a good exfoliator. They're great for flakey skin in the winter and oily skin in the summer.

Fresh Seaberry Moistruizing Face Oil - My skin is combination/oily most of the time, but I still really enjoy face oils. I haven't tried much from Fresh, so I can't wait to give this a try.

I like this box, but the more I continue with this subscription, the more I realize that this is not the box for a beauty junkie. This is a great box if you want to get an introduction to what Sephora and the brands that they carry have to offer. While the products included are nice, I just can't get excited when I see products that I already have.

What do you think about these subscription boxes? Do you subscribe to Glossybox or Play! by Sephora? I would love to hear what you think!

10 Time Saving Beauty Products

It has come to that lovely time of year when the holiday season can feel a little bit (or a lot) like a mad dash. There are so many occasions to get ready for and no time to get ready. Here are my ten most used beauty items when there so many events and gatherings and so little time.

Hair:

The Wet Brush - This is a must if you have thick hair. It makes detangling so much easier. I have the mini one, and it works just fine on my long, thick hair. I got mine at Ulta, but they're also available on Amazon.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment - If you need to go an extra day between washes, then this is the product for you. It gives a smooth style that holds. I'm not crazy about this for every day because my hair feels crunchy when I use it, but this is what I use when I need a style that is going to last and look fabulous.

Conair Infiniti Pro Dryer - Dries my hair in a flash and is a fraction of the price of similar hair dryers.

Skin:

Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel - All you need is 5-10 minutes, and you're on your way to an instantly brighter complexion. You might feel frazzled, but you're face won't show it.

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner* - This product claims to reduce the appearance of pores instantly and over time, and it actually delivers! I use this after my moisturizer in the morning (can also use at night), and it makes my skin look and feel smoother. It also takes away some of the shine from the sunscreen in my moisturizer. I wear this every day, even if I'm not wearing a full face of makeup. When I do wear makeup, it almost acts as a primer, keeping it the shine away and helping it last longer. I used to wear primer every now and then, but I can skip it altogether when I use this! This was sent to me for review, but I really and truly absolutely love this product.

Makeup - Face:

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder - I find mineral powders to be so convenient and easy to use, and nothing compares to the mineral powder from Laura Mercier. The Mineral Pressed Powder is just as nice and even more conveninet for on the go.

Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer - It's easy to apply and has some serious coverage. You won't find this one creasing under your eyes either. I've heard this one compared to the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, but I don't have it to make that call. I guess I need to put the Nars on my list!

Makeup - Eyes & Lips

L'Oreal Infallible 24 hr Eye Shadow - One swipe of this has all the shimmer you need for a festive eye. They look great used as one color all over  the lid or blended with other shadows. I have a couple of shades, but Amber Rush is my most-used.

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara - This mascara delivers tons of volume without having to spend the time to apply layer upon layer. Just apply one or two coats, and you're good to go.

Lip Crayons - So, this one is more of a type of product rather than one specific product. I love lip crayons because they're like your liner and lipstick in one. I wear my Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Provacateur the most during the holidays. The Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencils and the L'Oreal La Lacques and Le Mattes are great options too.

Those were my 10 products that I use when I'm short on time and still need to be presentable. I hope you found this post helpful in some way. What products do you use when you need to get ready in a hurry?

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara | Review

Hi everyone! After some major technical difficulites, I'm back. I cannot tell you how much I missed being here. I hope all of you are surviving the holiday madness right now! It's in full swing, and that means more things going on than I would like to think about. I'm sure it's that way for most of you, too. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to devote to blogging right now, but I'm doing the best I can to keep the posts coming.

Today's review is of my go-to mascara when I need to get ready in a hurry -- Maybelline The RocketWhen it comes to mascaras, Maybelline does an excellent job. I can't think of one Maybelline mascara that I've tried that I disliked, and you really can't beat the price! If they're on sale buy one get one half off, well that's even better.

The mascara builds up very easily. You really don't need to spend a lot of time applying layer upon layer of this. If you like to just sweep on one coat and go, then this is the mascara for you. The brush has smaller plastic bristles that evenly coat the lashes and give a bit more precision that the traditional nylon bristles. The product itself dries very quickly on the lashes and is a bit of a drier formula in general. This is not a mascara that's going to run. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to remove, even with eye makeup remover. It flakes off rather than melting off with remover, and it takes quite a bit of effort.

As you can see, The Rocket really adds a lot of volume to my lashes and builds up without having to take a lot of time. I'm quite fond of this mascara. I just wish it were a bit easier to remove.

Are you a fan of Maybelline mascaras? Which one is your favorite?
