Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50 Review

It's an early spring here in Texas, and the weather has been quite warm and sunny for February, even by Texas standards. That means more time spent outside. As a huge believer in sunscreen, there's rarely a day that I'm not wearing at least SPF 30 on my face no matter the weather conditions. I do like to add more protection when I'm spending more time in the sun. While I like the idea of using a mineral sunscreen, I have had trouble finding one that doesn't feel too heavy on my skin. Usually, I have to resort to a formula that has a combination of mineral and chemical sunscreens to get a more lightweight feel. I've tried a few that make promises of being a lightweight mineral sunscreen, only to try them once and promptly return. The Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50 promises high SPF protection with a weightless feeling.

From the brand:
This Triple Antiaging fluid provides sheer mineral UVA/UVB protection against photodamage and Multi-Antioxidants to help neutralize environmental damage.
  • Sheer mineral UVA/UVB protection enhances natural skin tone
  • Broad spectrum SPF 50 protects against photodamage, the primary cause of signs of aging
  • PA++++ highest level of UVA protection
  • Multi-Antioxidants help neutralize environmental damage
  • Green Tea Extract helps protect cellular DNA for healthy skin
  • Virtually invisible universal tint smoothes imperfections and helps even tone

The directions state to "shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds before each use to ensure uniform product consistency." This is very important. If you don't shake it enough, the product will still be separated. The well-blended product has a tint to it and almost looks like a tinted moisturizer. At first I expected it to have some coverage. Once it's applied, the color completely disappears. I'm not sure about the claims for a universal tint that smooths out imperfections. When I apply this, my skin feels moisturized, and there does not appear to be any coverage. I like how this feels on my face, but I don't think that it made any difference in hiding imperfections. Unlike other mineral sunscreens, this one doesn't look white on top of your skin, so I think this is why they added a bit of a tint into it.
Looks like a tinted moisturizer, but applies sheer.

As for its claims of feeling weightless, this is the most lightweight mineral sunscreen I have used. It dries very quickly after it's applied, and it doesn't feel heavy on my skin. It dries to a demi-matte finish. I can still apply makeup over it. This is really impressive for the high SPF content. I must say that this is not the most lightweight sunscreen out there if you count chemical and chemical/mineral combination sunscreens, but this is the most lightweight mineral sunscreen I have come across. This is a fantastic option for anyone with sensitive skin.

The Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50 retails for $42 and can be purchased through the Exuviance website and Dermstore.
