Studio Gear True Whipped Stain Glosses | Review & Swatches

Liquid lipsticks have never been a favorite of mine. For the most part, I consider them to be messy and too much trouble to apply. The applicator has to be just right. So many companies are coming out with highly rated liquid lipsticks and lip stains that something must be different about these new products.

I have True Wine, True Burgundy, True Red, True Fuchsia, and True Pebble. I appreciate that each shade is appropriately named and sums up the shade description.

What in the world is a whipped stain gloss? Here's what the package has to say about it.

The whipped stain glosses come with a doe foot applicator that has a curve to it. The curve helps dispense more product in one dip into the tube. You don't have to keep going back for more product to get a full application. The tube closes securely and snaps shuts. You don't have to worry about it making a mess in your makeup bag.

The product itself does have a whipped texture to it. There's not a smell or taste to the product. I wouldn't be able to wear any of these if that was the case. There's the word gloss in the name, but the finish isn't glossy. It's more creamy. It does have a bit of shine right after it's applied, but that goes away after you blot or after it wears for a bit down to a demi-matte. The formula isn't drying on my lips, but I would not call it moisturizing either. Don't use any kind of a lip stain if you need moisturizing. The most I hope for in wearing any kind of long-lasting lip product is that it is not drying. These aren't uncomfortable, but I can feel them on my lips. Even though it does stain, this product is not smudge-proof or budge-proof. It will transfer to what your lips touch. This is probably why they aren't drying like other lip stains. Even with all of the color transfer, the color lasts all day on the lips.

Left side: True Fuchsia
Right side top-bottom: True Pebble, True Red, True Burgundy, True Wine
As for the colors, I'm surprised to say that I like all of them. I wear colors like True Fuchsia and True Red all the time, so those are my favorites. I thought True Pebble was too gray for me at first. If I blot it once after I apply it, I really like the shade on me.  I didn't think that the dark shades, True Burgundy and True Wine, would look good on me, but I like them more than I expected. The weather has felt a bit like fall lately, so I can still get away with the dark lip colors. Not that I follow any sort of rules! You should wear whatever you feel like wearing!
